What cannot be undone
Chapter 13
Everything below writes to the ledger. None of it can be edited or deleted afterwards — only cancelled by an opposite entry, which stays visible. Read the confirmation before you click.
| Action | What it does | If it was wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Post invoice | Charges the customer, books income and tax, relieves stock | Void, reverse, or raise a credit note |
| Post bill | Books the cost and what you owe the vendor | Void, reverse, or raise a debit note |
| Post to the ledger (journal) | Writes the entry | Reverse it |
| Post (expense) | Books the spend and reduces the paying account | Void or reverse |
| Confirm delivery | Moves stock out | Reverse the dispatch |
| Confirm receipt | Moves stock in at bill cost | Reverse the receipt |
| Record adjustment | Changes quantity and stock value | Post an opposite adjustment |
| Finalize (payroll) | Posts salary, deductions and tax | Cannot be reversed — correct in the next run |
| Dispose (asset) | Posts gain or loss against net book value | Cannot be reversed |
| Close period | Blocks all posting into that month | Reopen — needs a separate permission |
| Year close | Rolls the year's result into retained earnings | Cannot be reversed. Typed confirmation required |
The safe habit: save as draft, print the preview, read it, then post. A draft costs nothing and changes nothing. A posted document is permanent.
